Our Board and Train program uses positive-reinforcement dog training and gentle, proven methods to develop reliable, real-life skills in dogs and puppies. Dogs stay and train at our private five-acre Southern California property, where they have the time, space and consistency to practice better behavior throughout their daily routines.
Training is personalized around your dog’s needs and may address manners, listening, leash pulling, unreliable recall, overexcitement and other everyday behavior concerns. We serve families throughout Riverside County, Orange County, Los Angeles, San Diego and communities across Southern California.

What is Board and Train?
During your dog’s stay, Robert Eimer personally provides daily training tailored to your dog’s age, temperament, learning history and your family’s priorities. With more than 30 years of professional experience, Robert does not force dogs through a one-size-fits-all system.
Our Board and Train program builds reliable real-life skills while addressing unwanted behaviors through positive reinforcement and engaging training exercises. Dogs practice responding to verbal cues and hand signals while developing confidence, manners and self-control. Training may include loose-leash walking, recall, sit, down, stay, jumping, barking, bolting, chewing, poor impulse control and calm household behavior.
Robert also has extensive experience with behavior modification, including fearfulness, reactivity, separation-related behaviors and growling. This background helps him understand what may be driving a behavior and adapt training to the individual dog—without shock collars, e-collars or harsh corrections.
Training takes place on our private five-acre Riverside County property near Corona. Families travel to California Dog Training from Orange County, Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside County and communities throughout Southern California.

Behaviors such as fearfulness, reactivity, growling, snapping and separation-related distress can have many different causes. Robert draws on more than 30 years of professional experience to look beyond the behavior itself and consider the dog’s temperament, learning history, environment and individual triggers.
Throughout his career, Robert has worked with hundreds of dogs displaying aggression and other complex behavior concerns. This experience helps him recognize what may be contributing to a dog’s behavior and determine whether it is something we can appropriately address within our Board and Train program.
During your free evaluation, Robert will listen to your concerns, observe your dog and honestly assess whether our program and training environment are the right fit. If they are, he will develop a thoughtful training approach personalized to your dog.
What Happens During Your Dog's Board and Train Stay
Your dog’s Board and Train stay combines daily training with the structure, care and real-life experiences that help new skills become reliable. Training is tailored to your dog’s individual temperament and your goals, with plenty of room to practice in our large private training field as well as inside our home, where we can work on indoor manners and everyday behavior.
Your dog will learn to walk nicely by your side, sit, lie down, come when called, complete a reliable 30-minute down-stay with distractions, and loose-leash heel. We also incorporate different environments, visitors and everyday distractions so your dog has opportunities to practice their training outside of a single controlled lesson.
Throughout their stay, dogs follow a consistent daily routine designed to build independence, social skills and self-control. Dogs and puppies also enjoy appropriate, professionally supervised playtime in our natural outdoor setting, along with rest, individual attention, affection and care.
Your dog lives, learns and stays with us while receiving 24-hour supervision throughout their stay.
Choosing the Right Board and Train Program
Every dog can benefit from additional training time, repetition and real-life practice. Adult Board and Train programs begin at three weeks, while five to six weeks is recommended for families seeking the most complete training experience.
We also recognize that a longer stay is not possible for every family. A three-week program can still provide meaningful progress. We prioritize the skills and behaviors that matter most to you within the time available.
Dogs learn at different rates, and age, temperament, previous experience, established habits and individual motivation can all influence progress. During your free evaluation, Robert will help you choose a program that fits your dog, your goals and your circumstances.

Three-Week Foundation
Focused training centered on your family’s highest-priority skills and concerns. This option provides a valuable foundation for adult dogs when a longer stay is not practical. $750 per week · Three-week minimum
Complete Training
Five to six weeks allows more time for additional skills, repetition and practice across a wider range of everyday situations. This is our recommended option for families seeking the strongest and most comprehensive foundation. $750 per week · Five to six weeks recommended

No big operation here. California Dog Training is a family business, not a large, assembly-line operation. We get to know your dog as an individual and provide consistent, personal attention throughout the training stay.
30+ Years of Training Experience
Your dog’s training is personally overseen by Robert Eimer, who has more than 30 years of professional experience. His background includes family-dog training, advanced obedience and complex behavior modification. Your dog is never handed off to a newly graduated or inexperienced trainer. Robert knows your dog, your goals and the training plan from start to finish.
5-acre Training Environment
Our private 5-acre training center gives dogs room to train, play and relax. Large runs and play yards—some an acre or more—provide plenty of outdoor space, with puddle pools and misters during hot weather, air-conditioned indoor areas and comfortable dog houses. Grooming and other optional amenities are also available during your dog’s stay.
Training Support After Your Dog Comes Home
Every Board and Train program includes an in-depth Go-Home Session that teaches you how to maintain your dog’s training at home.
Three- and four-week programs include two complimentary private follow-up lessons after the Go-Home Session. Programs of five weeks or longer include unlimited complimentary private follow-up lessons for one year.
Families who choose a three- or four-week program may also add more residential training later. Returning program graduates can continue their training in future stays with a one-week minimum.
Bringing Your Dog’s Training Home
Your dog’s training doesn’t end when their Board and Train stay is over. At pickup, you’ll participate in an in-depth Go-Home Session with your trainer. We’ll show you what your dog has learned, teach you how to use the same cues and techniques, and help you continue the training successfully at home.
- An in-depth Go-Home Session that teaches your family how to continue the training at home.
- Training essentials included: leather leash and Gentle Leader training collar — a $100 value.
- Personal guidance for your home environment to help prevent your dog from slipping back into old habits.
- Two complimentary follow-up lessons with three- and four-week programs, or unlimited follow-up lessons for one year with programs of five weeks or longer
- Written instructions and a training manual so you have something to reference after your dog comes home.
- Guidance for building a healthy working relationship with your dog based on consistency, trust and clear expectations.
- A customized daily routine designed around your household and lifestyle so your dog knows what to expect at home.
- Complimentary refresher training during eligible boarding stays for the first year after graduation from the complete program.
- Option for program graduates to purchase additional residential training later with a one-week minimum
